Today is just WOW. Today I'm taking part in the Sew in Tune Blogseries by Melly Sews and Boy, oh Boy, oh Boy crafts. This is a series that I've really loved in the past and when I got the invitation from Melly and Stacey to participate this time I couldn't quite believe it. Which pattern did you chose? 
 

Maybe you have guessed so already: I chose this dress with the wonderful and special neckline. In March we will be in Italy for one week. Friends of us who are Venezuelans, but live in the US are getting married in a little village between Florence and Rome. We will make some nice day trips to these cities. Oh, I can't wait to be in Florence again (read more about my love for Italy here). This is where I learnt Italian at a language school, which is where I met Bill, who is the one who is getting married. This city is so close to my heart. I've had so many wonderful moments there and my memories are all so good. I can't wait to share it with my family. And then Rome. Rome obviously is one of the most special cities in the world. As we have the two kids with us, we won't do a lot sightseeing, but the Colloseum is a must. I'm sure R will be very impressed!

Anyways, the main reason for our trip is the wedding and I really want to make R a new dress for it. However, I'm a much too practical person. There is no way that I make her a super delicate dress that she will only wear once. Thus, I've chosen this dress pattern. The neckline makes it special and with the right fabric it can be quite "Wow", I think. However, with the simple A-line style it is still easy to wear and ready to play. Throw in a nice cardigan and some tights for the colder spring evenings and my girl will be super sweet.

Für welchen Schnitt habt ihr euch entschieden? 

Vielleicht habt ihr es ja schon erraten. Ich hab mich für das Kleid mit dem schönen und besonderen Ausschnitt entschieden. Wir fahren im März für eine Woche nach Italien. Freunde von uns, die aus Venezuela kommen, aber in den USA leben, heiraten dort in einem kleinen Dorf zwischen Florenz und Rom. Wir werden ein paar schöne Tagesausflüge zu diesen Städten machen. Oh, ich kann's kaum erwarten wieder in Florenz zu sein (wenn ihr mehr über meine Italien-Liebe wissen wollt, klickt doch mal hier). In Florenz hab ich auf einer Sprachschule Italienisch gelernt und dort eben auch Bill kennengelernt zu dessen Hochzeit wir fahren. Ich liebe diese Stadt. Ich hab dort so viele schöne Momente erlebt und nur wunderbare Erinnerungen. Ich freu mich schon drauf, das mit meiner Familie zu teilen. Und Rom. Rom ist einfach eine der tollsten Städte der Welt. Da wir die zwei Zwerge dabei haben, werden wir natürlich nicht massig Sehenswürdigkeiten besuchen, aber das Kolloseum ist ein MUST. Ich bin mir sicher, dass es R schwer beeindrucken wird.

Aber der eigentlich Grund der Reise ist die Hochzeit. Natürlich möcht ich R da ein neues Kleid nähen, aber ich bin viel zu praktisch veranlagt als dass ich ihr so ein Partykleidchen nähen würde, dass sie dann nur einmal trägt. Stattdessen hab ich mir für dieses Kleid entschieden. Der Halsauschnitt gemeinsam mit dem passenden Stoff machen es besonders. Der A-linienförmige Schnitt dagegen macht es angenehm zu tragen und darin zu spielen. Dann noch ein schöner Cardigan und die passende Strumpfhose für die kalten Frühlingsabende und R wird super schön aussehen.

It's time for a new Japan Sew Along on the Tanoshii Blog. This is the second time that Cathrin from Stoffbüro organizes a sew along and this time it is not only a sew along for Germans, but international entries are welcome, too. I followed the last sew along and this time I really want to join the fun. Just last week I showed you my very first endeavour in sewing from japanese sewing books and here I am doing it again! 

Auf dem Tanoshii Blog startet heute wieder ein Japan Sew Along organisiert von der lieben Cathrin vom Stoffbüro. Nachdem ich das letztes Mal nur fleißig mitgelesen habe, werd ich diesmal auch dabei sein. Do you guys know the Sew Fab Pattern Bundle? I'm sure you do. The sew fab pattern sale happens twice a year and offers a bundle of several patterns for a really great price. While in the past the bundles consisted of pre-released patterns, this time the patterns are all brand new women patterns. I have purchased several of the bundles in the past and was so happy when I got invited to take part in the Sew Fab Pattern Tour.

Habt ihr schon mal vom Sew Fab Pattern Bundle gehört? Dieses Paket von (immer wieder anderen) Schnittmustern wird zweimal pro Jahr verkauft. Nutta Fabric Shop Blog Tour

What kind of sewing do you like most? I really, really love sewing basics. Sure more elaborate sewing (like this dress) is exciting and pushes my sewing abilites, but what I love most is to actually see my kids in their mama-made clothes. When I show something new to my daughter and she wants to wear it right away, it just makes me happy. If you then even add a special fabric that most likely noone else in my country has sewn with, I'm pretty much in heaven ;)

Was näht ihr am liebsten? Ich lieb es Basicteile zu nähen. Klar sind größere Projekte (wie Rs Dirndl) toll und helfen mir auch besser Nähen zu lernen, aber am tollsten ist es einfach die Zwerge in den von mir genähten Sachen zu sehen. Wenn dann meine Tochter auch gleich noch tragen will, was ich grad genäht habe, umso besser. Und wenn dann noch ein besonderer Stoff dazu kommt, den wahrscheinlich sonst niemand in Deutschland vernäht hat, bin ich im Näh-Himmel ;)

"Twist it" in the forest / RUMS: Mit Twist it im Wald

Heute möchte ich euch die zweite Twist it Bluse zeigen, die ich während des Probenähens für schneidernmeistern gemacht habt. Ich hab ja schon so manches Mal erwähnt, dass Senfgelb v.a. im Herbst und Winter deine meiner Lieblingsfarben ist. Als ich dann sah dass Stoff & Co in München nun Atelier Brunette Stoffe verkauft und dieser hier mit den schönen Origamivögeln sogar 140cm breit ist, konnt ich mich nicht zurückhalten. Den Stoff hab ich übrigens mit Monika von schneidernmeistern gekauft. Sie hat mit ihrer Familie einige Freunden und Verwandte in Bayern besucht und wir haben es geschafft uns an einem Nachmittag zu treffen. Wir haben geredet, gelacht, Erfahrungen ausgetauscht, Stoffe eingekauft, Kaffee getrunken, Kuchen gegessen etc. Ziemlich perfekt ;)

Today I want to show you the second Twist it blouse that I made during the pattern test for schneidernmeistern. I think I mentioned already that mustard yellow is one of my favorite colors, especially during winter so when I saw that Stoff & Co in Munich now sells Atellier Brunette fabrics and that this one with the beautiful Origami birds even is 140cm wide, I just had to have it. I actually bought this together with Monika from schneidernmeistern. She and her family were in Bavaria to visit some friends and family and we managed to meet one afternoon. We had a really nice afternoon with a lot of talking and laughing, some fabric shopping, coffee, cake etc. Pretty perfect ;)

Habt ihr schon mal was von der Sew Geeky Serie gehört? Definitiv eine der coolsten Blogserien bei der sich am 25. jedes Monats ein Haufen Geeks zusammen tut und zu einem Thema etwas näht. Was gab's nicht schon alles: StarWars, Studio Ghibli, Marvel vs. DC… Ausgedacht haben sich das ganze Ari von MaxCalifornia und Kat von Sew Chibi. Beides sind Blogs denen man einfach folgen MUSS wenn man gern mal was anderes, was verrücktes, was eigenes sehen will und gern auch mal persönliches liest. Ari hab ich auch im Rahmen meiner Sew Fantastic Blogs Reihe interviewt.

Have you heard of Sew Geeky? Pretty much one of the coolest blog series ever. The 25th of each month several geeks get virtually together to sew something to a geeky theme. There was Star Wars, Studio Ghibli, Marvel vs DC .. The whole thing is brainwork of Ari from Max California and Kat from Sew Chibi which I'm sure you all know or if not you probably live behind the moon and aren't interested in any things geeky, right? Well if you still are these are your go to blogs. You can find anything crazy, special, different there, mixed with some to the heart writing. I also interviewed Ari for my Sew Fantastic Blogs Series.

Constant: Change Blog Tour

Renee from Nearest the Pin and Jenya from While she was sleeping had the idea for a fun new blog series. It is called „Constant: Change“. As women and mothers our life changes constantly. Family, our marriage, work, kindergarten etc. I just have to look at my little son: As soon as I understand that the sound „tractor“ doesn't only mean tractor, but also „yoghurt“, he starts to say the right word... Well, the series is about us embracing change in our life and doing so with some sewing.

Renee vom Blog Nearest the Pin und Jenya von While she was sleeping (beide aus Australien) hatten die wunderbare Idee eine Blogserie zum Thema „ständiger Wechsel“ zu machen. Als Frauen und Mütter ändert sich unser Leben ja ständig. Famile, Ehe, Arbeit, Kindergarten etc. Ich muss nur meinen kleinen Sohn anschauen. Kaum hab ich kapiert, dass „Traktor“ nicht nur Traktor, sondern auch Jogurt heißt, schon sagt er das richtige Word. In der Blogserie geht’s darum diesen Wechsel in unserm Leben willkommen zu heißen und dazu etwas zu nähen.

Sunday Picnic Dress Blog Tour

Today I'm happy to be part of the Sunday Picnic Dress Blog Tour. I'm a longtime follower of Suz' blog and I have always admired her vintage style sewing patterns. During summer I even bougth her Cosi Swimsuit pattern, but haven't sewed it up so far as I'm still waiting for German fabric companies to finally print their cool patterns not only on jersey, but also on swimwear fabric! I was really tempted to try to become a tester for the Sunday Picnic Dress, but as this would have been before Abilmente, I knew I didn't have enough time. However, I commented on Suz blog and some days later she wrote me an email to ask whether I'd like to join the blog tour. Well, of course I wanted!

Heute freu ich mich sehr, dass ich bei der Sunday Picnic Dress Blog Tour dabei sein darf. Ich folge Suz' Blog schon lang und hab auch ihre schönen Vintage-Schnitte schon lang bewundert. Im Sommer hab ich mir auch ihren Cosi Badeanzug Schnitt gekauft. Bisher hab ich ihn noch nicht genäht, da ich noch darauf warte, dass unsere tollen deutschen Stofffirmen ihre coolen Drucke endlich auch auf Badeanzugstoff und nicht nur auf Jersey drucken. Ich wollte mich schon als Tester für dieses Kleid bewerben, aber vor Abilmente hatte ich einfach nicht genug Zeit. Ich hab jedoch einen Kommentar hinterlassen und ein paar Tage später hat Suz mich eingeladen an der Tour teilzunehmen. Da konnte ich einfach nicht nein sagen! 

Belated Selfish Sewing: Julia Cardigan and Union St. Tee / Was für mich: Julia Cardigan und Union St. Tee

Just like last week, I want show you today some things that I sewed already during selfish sewing week, but didn't have time to write a post about. Some time ago I looked through my clothes and threw a whole bunch away that I hadn't worn for years. I now want to sew step by step some clothes that fill the gap. But not just some clothes. I want to sew clothes that actually fit my wardrobe style. I love colour, especially blue, red, white, mustard yellow and purple, but want clothes that don't shout „crazy sewing woman“. I know that not all fabrics that are made for kids suit their moms too well ;) Instead I want stripes, bold, flowers, dots, checks,... Also, 95% of the days I wear Jeans and a T-shirt.

Wie letzte Woche, hab ich auch diese Woche noch zwei Sachen zu zeigen, die ich während der selfish sewing week genäht, aber nicht rechtzeitig gebloggt habe. Ich habe vor einer Weile endlich mal meinen Kleiderschrank ausgeräumt. Schon unglaublich was da noch für Sachen drin waren. Zeug das ich seit vielen Jahren nicht mehr an hatte. Ist alles in den Altkleidercontainer gewandert. Auffüllen will ich das ganze jetzt möglichst mit selbstgenähten Sachen. Allerdings mit solchen, die ich auch wirklich trage. Also, nix los mit quietsche-knalle-bunt, stattdessen uni, Streifen, vielleicht mal Punkte, Blumen oder Karo. Das darf dann alles gern etwas Farbe haben, aber eben nicht total kunterbunt (nicht alles was bei meinen Zwergen süß ist, ist es auch bei mir...). Farben, die in meinem Kleiderschrank immer wieder vorkommen sind: Blau, Weiß, Rot, Gelb (v.a. senfgelb) und lila. Also will ich auch vorrangig in diesen Farben nähen, denn dann passt das auch alles zusammen. Und da ich zu 95% der Zeit Jeans und T-Shirt trag, sollte das beim Nähen auch dabei sein.

Stoffabbau: Little zippered bow pouch / Little zippered bow pouches

Emma hat zum Stoffabbau aufgerufen. Diese Woche sind Kosmetiktäschchen dran. Da ich sowie so zwei kleine Geschenke nähen wollte, kam mir das sehr gelegen. Ich bin ja eigentlich nicht so der Taschennäher, aber als kleines Mitbringsel sind sie dann eben doch unschlagbar. Also hab ich mich gestern abend hingehockt und zwei Täschen, genauer gesagt zwei zippered bow pouches nach dem kostenlosen Schnitt von See Kate Sew genäht. Da ich innen jedoch keine offenliegenden Nähte wollte, hab ich den Reißverschluss zwischen Futter und Außenstoff eingenäht (Tutorial z.B. hier). Ich find die zwei Täschen sind sehr schön geworden. Jetzt hoff ich nur, dass sie den Damen dann auch gefallen. Bei der Stoffauswahl hab ich mich zumindest davon inspirieren lassen, was ihnen gefällt: Die eine liebt Stoffe mit Blättern, die andere findet alles mit Retrolook ziemlich genial. Demnächst wird das ganze dann noch gefüllt (mit den Mama-Essentials: Tempos, Gummibärchen, Kinderpflaster) und dann überreicht.

Emma has started project destash! This week is all about cosmetics pouches. As I was already planning to sew two little presents, this was right in time. I'm not a very big bag-maker, but they make the perfect little gifts. So, yesterday I sat down and sewed two little zippered bow pouches (tutorial and pattern by See Kate Sew). I sewed them slightly different as I didn't want any open seams inside. So I inserted the zipper between lining and main fabric (like here). I really like how they turned out and just hope that the two women that'll get them, like them, too. At least my fabric choice is inspired by their likes: One loves fabrics with leaves and the other one is all about vintage look. I'll fill the bags with some mom-essentials like tissues, gummi-bears and patches.

Project Run and Play Denim Challenge and a free pattern / PR&P und ein kostenloses Schnittmuster

 
The PR&P Denim Challenge came at the right moment. I had just looked through my closet and thrown out quite a bunch of jeans that didn't fit anymore, had too low a waist (hello, I sit on the floor with my children) or holes at areas that shouldn't have some...

So I started to draft a look for my daughter and while at it a look for my son shaped up as well. What started as a new jeans for my daughter became more and more pieces and I just couldn't stop thinking about it. I, thus, decided to just start sewing and to see where it led. Well, here I am with two full outfits and 8 pieces for my children. Due to the fact that it's that many pieces I will break them done only very shortly.

Die PR&P Denim Challenge kam genau zum richtigen Zeitpunkt. Ich hatte gerade einige Jeans aus meinem Kleiderschrank aussortiert, die mir nicht mehr passten, eine zu niedrige Taille hatten (hallo, ich sitz mit meinen Kindern auf dem Fußboden...) oder Löcher an eher unpassenden Stellen hatten. Also fing ich an einen Look für meine Tochter zu skizzieren und dabei ist mir gleich auch einiges für meinen Sohn eingefallen. Was also zuerst nur eine Hose für meine Tochter werden sollte, wurde schnell immer mehr Einzelteile und ich konnte einfach nicht aufhören darüber nachzudenken. Also hab ich mich einfach an die Nähmaschine gesetzt um mal zu schauen wie weit ich mit den Sachen komme. Tja, hier sind meine zwei Outfits und 8 Kleidungsstücke für meine Kinder. Da es so viele Sachen sind, werd ich versuchen sie recht kurz zu erklären.

Hallo allerseits, ich hoff ihr bringt etwas Zeit mit? Denn das hier wird ein eher langer Post. Aber einer der sich auch rentiert – zumindest wenn ihr kostenlose Schnitte mögt – und davon geh ich doch mal aus!

Knock it Off Series: Roberto Cavalli Parrot Shirt

What do you do when Heidi from Elegance and Elephants writes you an email to ask you if you are interested in taking part in her Knock it Off Series? Well, I no what I did: I screamed "YES" so loud that she could hear it all the way from Germany to Canada ;) To me the Knock it Off Series is one of the coolest that I've followed during the last years and I feel really honoured to take part this time! As soon as I knew that I would be part of it, I started to think about what I want to make. For quite some time I thought I would recreate one of the fantastic mini Boden applique t-shirts. However, during the last installments of the Knock it Off series many mini Boden clothes were used, plus these clothes aren't actually THAT expensive. I wouldn't buy my kids' whole wardrobe there, but if I really want that one tee, I can buy it. For the Knock it Off series I really wanted something unreasonably expensive if you know what I mean. So one day after work, I went to a big magazine store at Munich central station and bought (for the very first time) the VOGUE Kids magazine. I must say there is some really nice inspiration in there, but oh, is this stuff expensive!

RUMS mit "fly" / RUMS with "fly"

Wow, zum bereits fünften Mal in Folge bin ich jetzt bei RUMS dabei. Da bin ich ja gleich richtig stolz auf mich ;) Von dem Moment an als Susanne alias Hamburger Liebe, die Designs ihrer Fly-Stoffe zeigte, war klar, dass ich bei denen auch zuschlagen muss. Da ist ja wirklich einer schöner als der andere. Obwohl ich eigentlich inzwischen mehr der Jersey-Typ bin, hab ich diesmal wie wild Webware geshoppt. 

Wow, it's the fifth time in a row that I take part in RUMS, the weekly german link party for everything for the woman. This makes me kinda proud. Well, when Susanne from Hamburger Liebe showed the fabrics of her newest design series "Fly", I just couldn't resist. All the fabrics are just incredibly beautiful. I'm normal more into jersey, but this time I went crazy shopping the woven fabrics. 

Sewing along with Project Sewn and Sewing Indie Month + RUMS/ Bei ein paar sewalongs dabei + RUMS

No, don't go away – this is a new post even though it has almost the same title as the one from last thursday. This week is the „Going Global Challenge“ atProject Sewn. The Competitors and Sew Alongers very asked to sew something inspired by a country. It didn't have to be a traditional costume, but we could take inspiration where ever we wanted to. 

Halt, dageblieben, auch wenn der Titel fast gleich wie letzte Woche ist. Diese Woche ist die "Going Global Challenge" bei Project Sewn. Man sollte sich von einem Land inspirieren lassen. Nicht unbedingt eine Tracht sondern was man will.

World off - Music on

Today I want to show you J's new t-shirt. As always I chose Rae's flashback skinny tee. Somehow I never get bored of this one. I love the fit and I love that I have each and every size traced and cut. Not having to print or trace something, but just laying it on the fabric, adding some fabric weights and then starting to cut is a real plus. I sewed a 2T for my almost 16mt old boy. Both of my kids have really long torsos (my husband's genes) and I hate it when the shirts end at the belly button :) Also this way it will last for sure throughout the summer and in winter he'll be able to wear it with a long-sleeved onesie underneath.

Heute möchte ich euch Js neues T-Shirt zeigen. Wie immer nach Rae's FlashbackSkinny Tee. Irgendwie greif ich immer wieder zu diesem Schnitt. Die Passform ist einfach perfekt und dass ich inzwischen jede Größe abgepaust und ausgeschnitten habe, ist auch ein Pluspunkt. So muss ich nicht erst den Schnitt drucken und abpausen, sondern kann direk mit Stoff zuschneiden loslegen. Ich hab hier die Größe 2T (2 steht für 2-jährig, T für Toddler, d.h. für Kleinkind, das noch einen Babybauch hat) genäht obwohl J ja erst knapp 16 Monate alt ist. Meine Kinder haben beide einen sehr langen Oberkörper (von meinem Mann geerbt) und ich hasse es wenn die T-Shirts auf Höhe vom Bauchnabel enden. So wird das T-Shirt außerdem den ganzen Sommer passen und im Herbst und Winter kann er es wahrscheinlich sogar noch mit einem Langarmbody drunter tragen.

Sewing along with Project Sewn and Sewing Indie Month + RUMS / Bei den Sew Alongs von Project Sewn und Sewing Indie Month dabei + RUMS

 

Today I'm sewing along with this week's Project Sewn Theme - Floral Frenzy. I had this somehow strange floral jersey in my stash that I got on sale last year. It has blue roses, grapes and weird colors. Nonetheless it somehow speaks to me :) I reminds me of Rocker or Punkrocker style and I happen to think that the dress that I made could be something that also the amazing Ari from Max California would like to wear. I might not be rocking it as well as she'd do, but I still like it. Might have to buy some chucks that hit over the ankle - wouldn't they be perfect with this dress?

Heute bin ich beim sew along für Project Sewn zum Thema Floral Frenzy dabei. Ich hatte diesen etwas seltsamen Blumenjersey, den ich letztes Jahr irgendwo für wenig Geld bekommen hab, in meinem Stoffstapel. Auf dem Stoff sind blaue Rosen, Trauben udn seltsame Farben. Nichtsdestotrotz find ich ihn irgendwie lässig :) Ich muss dabei immer an Rocker oder Punkrocker denken und daran, dass das Kleid das ich mir genäht habe vielleicht etwas wäre, das sogar die super-coole Ari von Max California tragen würde ;) Ich rocke das Kleid vielleicht nicht ganz so wie sie, aber ich mag's trotzdem. Vielleicht kauf ich mir noch ein Paar Chucks dazu, die erst über'm Knöchel enden - die wären doch perfekt dazu, oder?
