KCW day 3 (& Project Run and Play sew along) - KCW Tag 3

Zusätzlich zur Kids Clothes Week ist diese Woche auch Refashion/Upcycle Week bei Project Run and Play. Ich wollte auch wieder was beitragen. Ich hab auch einige Sachen zum Upcyclen zu Hause, aber das sind hauptsächlich einfarbige Shirts, die ich als Kombistoff verwenden. Nicht unbedingt das passende für die Challenge. Aber ich hatte noch diesen recht langweiligen lila Kapuzenpulli rumliegen und im Hinterkopf die vielen tollen Dinosaurierhoodies, die ich in den letzten Jahren im www gesehen habe. Da sowohl der Papa als auch die Kleine außerdem große Drachenfans sind, hab ich mich also dran gemacht einen Drachen zu nähen. Das zweite Kostüm diese Woche (hier findet ihr das Zebra) und wenn alles glatt läuft noch nicht das letzte.

This week is not only kids clothes week, but also refashion/upcycle week at Project Run and Play. I wanted to also contribute something. I do have some old t-shirts in my recycle bin. However, they are plain and boring and I just use them in combination with fun print. Not exactly what I was wanted for the challenge. However, I had this plain and boring purple hoodie lying around and thought about all those fun dinosaur hoodies that I saw in the internet in the last years. As both my daughter and my husband love dragons, I decided to sew one. The second costume for KCW (here you can find the zebra) and if everything works out it still won' be the last one.

Für die Zacken hab ich einfach Rauten aus Fleece ausgeschnitten, diese zuerst mittig auf den Kapuzenpulli aufgenäht und danach die beiden Seiten der Raute (d.h. zwei Dreiecke) hochgeklappt und zusammengenäht. Die Flügel hab ich frei Schnauze skizziert und dann aus lila bzw. auf der anderen Seite orangem Fleece zugeschnitten. Der Schwanz ist nach dem Dino-Schwanz-Tutorial von Running with Scissors. Allerdings hab ich den Schwanz nicht zugenäht, sondern einen Reißverschluss eingenäht, so dass die Füllung theoretisch zum Waschen auch Rausgenommen werden kann. Insgesamt ein super einfaches Projekt von dem meine Kleine aber total begeistert ist.

To add the spikes, I just cut diamonds out of fleece and sewed them on the hoodie. I then folded the two triangles up and sewed them together. The wings are just eyeballed and then cut from purple and orange fleece. For the tail I used the dinosaur tail tutorial by Running with Scissors. I did, however, not sew it closed, but inserted a zipper. This way I'll be able to take the stuffing out if I want to wash the tail.
