Selfish Sewing Week - Spring Top Sewalong - RUMS

Well, I know selfish sewing week is over. However, I didn’t have time to post this earlier and the rain in southern Germany made it almost impossible to take pictures. I finished this top on Wednesday last week (so within selfish sewing week), but only on Monday did the rain finally stop and I (or better my husband) could take some pics. I then decided to wait until today, the German RUMS-day (linky party for stuff for women) to post the top.

It’s a Colette Sorbetto (free pattern)! I bought the fabric already last year. It’s from my local shop and was for sale. I’m not entirely happy with the top. The color doesn’t really suit my pale skin that well (it’s better with the blue blazer I think). Well, now you’ll say that this will change during the summer – no, it won’t. I don’t get a nice brown skin – only red… It does get a tiny little bit darker, but it’ll still be white compared to almost everybody else.

Anyway, this was mainly a test top where I wanted to check how the general fit is and to see whether I want to sew another one in a fabric that I like more. I must say, I’m not sure whether I’ll sew it again – at least not as is: The pleat in the front adds volume where I certainly don’t need it and the bust darts hit relatively high (maybe they are better suitable for women that haven’t nursed two little ones…). Well, even though I’m not entirely happy, I’ll for sure wear it throughout the summer and of course also for Me MadeMay.

Me Made May sicher Verwendung finden.

  2. I like the pleat. and yes I would make the darts a little shorter on the next version. But on the whole I really like that on you.I think it works great with the jacket.
